Ryks Davies

Interim Massage Therapist

Ryks (pronounced like bikes) is an intern massage provider who holds a diploma in massage therapy from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Victoria, BC. As he has just graduated in April 2025, he possesses all the necessary clinical knowledge to practice (non-registered) massage therapy, along with some new insights and a fresh perspective. Until he is able to take his provincial registration exams this Fall, Ryks will be unable to offer services billable to insurance providers but will offer his services at a reduced rate to ensure they are affordable and accessible to all.

As someone who experienced chronic pain growing up, Ryks is the kind of therapist who is always willing to lend an open ear and help his patients feel heard. He operates on the notion that patients shouldn’t have to advocate for themselves to get the care they deserve, and that the hardest part of seeking that care should be getting into his office in the first place. Once there, Ryks’s patient-centered approach applies everything from traditional therapeutic massage and stretching, to active rehab techniques to create the best possible outcomes. The care he provides is not only evidence-based, but focused on getting results, especially for those most willing to learn and work to improve. For him, the patient’s well-being is paramount, so he is more than ready to refer out to other practitioners if he feels they would receive better care elsewhere.

Despite being a new therapist, Ryks is passionate about neurology and in understanding the ways in which we interact with the world through our nervous system. You can find him keeping up-to-date on the latest in neurology research, and drawing inspiration from salient literature such as ‘The Brain That Changes Itself’ by Dr. Norman Doidge, and ‘The Master and His Emissary’ by Dr. Iain McGilchrist.

When he’s not at work, Ryks enjoys long-distance running, exploring the beautiful Canadian west coast he has called home. Otherwise, you’ll most likely find him indoors playing video games or Dungeons & Dragons with friends.
