Swim Instructor Certification

Maya completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Victoria in 2022. Throughout her academic journey, she was involved in research concentrating on community-based physical activity promotion and occupational health. With a passion for health and wellness through movement, Maya has worked with multiple organizations to facilitate skill development for individuals with varying physical abilities. Drawing from her background as a competitive swimmer, Maya enjoys working as a swim instructor, focusing on teaching children with Autism.

After graduating, Maya became a registered Kinesiologist with the BCAK and started working within the field. As a Kinesiologist at an adapted fitness center, Maya has gained clinical experience working with individuals with chronic and acute conditions, focusing on neurological rehabilitation. In her practice, Maya places emphasis on collaborating with her clients to enhance functionality in their daily lives.

Outside of work, Maya still enjoys swimming but her main passion lies in trail running. Through these outlets as well as her professional experience, she has seen the impact of movement not only on individual functionality but also on the broader spectrum of community health and wellness in improving quality of life. She is excited to continue engaging with her community in this way and is thrilled to be joining the Neuromotion team in March 2024.
