Shelby MacDonald (he/him/his)
Registered Physiotherapist, MScPT, BSc
Neuromotion Victoria
Hi, I’m Shelby — a physiotherapist with a passion for helping people rediscover strength, confidence, and joy in movement after injury or illness.
I believe every person has their own unique path to recovery, and the best outcomes come when treatment is built entirely around your goals, your lifestyle, and what truly matters to you. Collaboration with you, your family, and the whole therapy team is what turns progress into lasting, meaningful change.
I have experience working in various rehabilitation settings including the Older Adults rehabilitation program at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital in Edmonton, treating clients with Parkinson’s disease, neurodegenerative conditions, movement disorders, cognitive impairments, complex orthopedic issues, stroke, spinal stenosis, neuropathies, cardiovascular conditions amid various other impairments. There, I partnered daily with physicians, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, nurses, and therapy assistants to help people regain the everyday abilities that make life feel full again.
I also gained valuable hands-on experience at the Halvar Jonson Centre for Brain Injury in Ponoka, immersing myself in intensive stroke and traumatic brain injury rehabilitation. That time showed me just how intertwined physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges are — and how powerful a dedicated rehabilitation team working to support an individuals goals can be in their recovery from a life-changing neurological injury.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Victoria and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta. I am a Registered Physiotherapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia.
Outside the clinic you’ll find me hiking, playing fetch with my dog Eddie, escaping to the woods to reset, or simply soaking up everything this beautiful Island has to offer. I also like to dabble in triathlon and have been fortunate to complete multiple Ironman, Half Ironman, standard, and sprint-distance events. I love summers spent cycling all over Vancouver Island, and I will regularly pin on a race number for local running races like the Island Race Series.
Being back home on Vancouver Island and part of the Neuromotion team feels exactly right. I’m excited to bring my experience and energy to this innovative, compassionate, and truly collaborative clinic.
Whether you want to walk the beach again, keep up with your grandkids, or get back to the sports you love — I’d be honoured to walk that path with you. Let’s get you moving better and living bigger.
