Mackenzie Vallee
Speech- Language Pathologist
Mackenzie completed her Bachelor of Honours Science at the University of Waterloo where she was a member of the women’s varsity volleyball team. She then pursued her Master of Clinical Science in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Western Ontario.
Mackenzie has been working at G.F Strong Rehabilitation Centre and Vancouver General Hospital since graduating. She is very passionate about neurological rehabilitation and has experience working with people with strokes, traumatic brain injury, brain tumours, and neurodegenerative disease including ALS, Parkinson’s, and major neurocognitive disorder. Mackenzie provides services for people with aphasia, cognitive-communication disorders, stuttering, voice, and swallowing needs. Mackenzie is certified in the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment protocol which offers strong evidence for improving vocal loudness and speech clarity in Parkinson’s disease.
Mackenzie is committed to using evidence-based practice to help patients develop treatment plans for safe swallowing and effective communication that align with their goals and enhance their participation in the community.
During her spare time, you can find Mackenzie exploring one of the many mountains on the West Coast, practicing yoga, or enjoying a cup of tea!
