Discover the GIST Program at Neuromotion!
Introducing a Communication Skills Group Program Starting October 2024!
Neuromotion is excited to announce a new in-person program led by our speech-language pathologist (SLP), Haley Wilson. The Group Interactive Structured Treatment (GIST) Program is a 12-week course designed for individuals who have experienced a brain injury.
What is GIST?
Originally developed by Lenore Hawley and Jody Newman, a counsellor and an SLP with extensive experience in neurorehabilitation, Group Interactive Structured Training is an evidence-based program that has been proven to improve communication abilities in individuals with brain injuries. GIST targets communication skills like boundary-setting, perspective-taking, turn-taking, and conflict resolution in a supportive group environment. Participants will learn practical strategies to handle social interactions, express their thoughts clearly, and understand others better.
